Welcome to the Coalition for Independence (CFI) website!
Our mission is to bring independence to individuals with a disability. Whether you have a disability, have a family member or friend who has a disability or you are looking to get involved in the disability movement in the Kansas City area, we have resources for you! This is the place to learn how, together, we can make our community more accessible and inclusive, creating equal opportunities for people of all abilities.
As a Center for Independent Living, the majority of our employees and volunteers including those in leadership roles are individuals with disabilities. When you contact us, you will be getting information, services and supports from people who understand, and are most likely, a part of the disability community.
This year CFI is excited to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a law which defines and protects the civil rights of individuals with disabilities in every aspect of their lives and the community. This anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate our past accomplishments and look forward to the next 25 years. CFI has been and always will be tirelessly working towards an accepting, inclusive and barrier-free community.
